SCANPAN DEBUTS WORLDS FIRST NONSTICK PFOA-FREE PROCESS

February 16th, 2008 - SCANPAN has introduced a PFOA-free process for its patented ceramic-titanium nonstick surface. SCANPAN cookware with its new “Green Tek” surface was first presented at Ambiente. “SCANPAN cookware has always been PFOA-free”, says George F. Bente, President and CEO of SCANPAN USA Inc. “The recent concerns linked to PFOA and its environmental impact had prompted us to work closely with our suppliers to develop a PTFE compound that would not require a PFOA emulsifier, as is the case with the traditional manufacturing process.

The new nonstick compound we have been using now for a few months is made according to a modified production technology that eliminates the need for PFOA entirely.” PFOA supported the polymerization of PTFE and was extracted after the production process. By the time the nonstick compound was applied to the pan surface, PFOA was no longer present. “But we wanted to tell our customers without any kind of reservation that SCANPAN cookware is completely PFOA free right from the beginning”, says Bente. “The new nonstick compound continues to work flawlessly in conjunction with SCANPAN’s patented ceramic-titanium technology, and the customer will see no difference in product performance.”

The new surface will be marketed with the by-line Green Tek and is available on SCANPAN Classic, SCANPAN Professional and the latest addition to SCANPAN’s patented ceramic-titanium nonstick family
